Description
George Harrison signed book - in original packing box This is the signed limited edition of 'Fifty Years Adrift', written by Beatles publicist Derek Taylor, and edited by George Harrison who wrote the foreword and also contibuted 15,000 words to the book in his role as editor and adviser. The book is signed by both George Harrison and Derek Taylor, and was printed in a once only deluxe edition of 2000 signed copies in 1984. Printed in Great Britain. The foreword was written by George and he has signed towards the bottom of the page in brown fountain pen ink .. the facing page states "This edition is limited to two thousand signed copies of which this is copy number 972" .. the number 972 is written in black ink .. towards the bottom of this page Derek Taylor has signed in blue fountain pen ink. Here is a once only opportunity to purchase this book with all its original packaging intact .. it has been meticulously cared for over the years and is still in its original packaging box from the UK ! .. there's a 'Cargo World London (Heathrow) and Newcastle Airports' sticker on the box lid. All the original cardboard inserts to secure the book for transit are still in the box .. even the paper cover that protects the slipcase is still here! Both the box lid and the paper cover have the limited edition number 972 hand written on them. The original owner was so meticulous about this item he even kept the original 4 page Genesis/Hedley advertising flyer for the book, and this is also included for the lucky purchaser (3 photos are shown from this flyer). The title page lists the book's publisher as "Genesis Publications Limited in association with Hedley New Zealand and Hedley Australia". The original paperwork from Hedley Australia publishers is also included .. a letter from the manager of Hedley on Hedley notepaper verifies the value of the book when originally sold. Amazingly the owner also kept the invoice from Hedley for the original cost ! .. this will also be included but has not been photographed to keep the original owner's name private. The book is in pristine condition, has never been read, has been meticulously cared for, and has rarely ever been taken out from its slip cover. There are really no imperfections worth mentioning, this is as close to near perfect condition as you will find .. all the pages are pristine. 544 pages in total filled with a wealth of beautifully & impeccably produced memorabilia .. there's literally hundreds of superb Beatles photos, engraving type illustrations, with letters drawings and postcards written by John, Paul, George and Ringo, song writing sheets, exacting colour reproductions of the 'A Hard Days Night' & 'Yellow Submarine' film premiere tickets, Beatles tour itineraries & concert bookings, publicity information and much more. The vast proportion of this book is devoted to Derek Taylor's story of his time as the Beatles publicist. A magnificently & lavishly produced hand leather bound volume with gold leaf page edges, printed on antique laid paper, in a slipcase with antique style paste-on label, with gold tooled edging on the book's spine & front cover .. no expense has been spared to produce this incredibly high quality, classically presented book. There's even an attached book mark with a reproduction of the 1967 Monterey Pop Festival ticket. This is a once only opportunity to obtain this book with all the original packaging, plus the Genesis/Hedley promotional leaflet, with a letter of provenance from Hedley. The chances of obtaining this item with all these extras in such pristine condition is pretty slim. I have no plans to relist this item in the future so please consider seriously if interested. Payment by Paypal for international buyer. Payment either by Direct Bank Deposit or by Money Order for Australian buyer. Airmail postage to the USA is Australian $65.
